Operation GQ day 3177

I am finally completely recovered from my back injury! I had an amazing workout at the gym today. A M A Z I N G ! Going 6 days without any running or lifting felt like complete eternity. But… better safe than sorry! I have been putting a lot of focus on the importance of physical activity, nutrition, and proper rest since day 1 of Operation GQ. If there is one thing that I have learned from Anthony Bourdain’s death is that I need to address MENTAL HEALTH.

We live in a society where being vulnerable, miserable or depressed is looked as weakness, like almost something you should be embarrassed or ashamed of. Hence why a lot of people chose to remain or stay quiet of their situation. I mean why should I have to call the Suicide Hotline and tell my problems to a complete stranger if I hit rock bottom? Main reason is because feeling depressed is something you prefer to hide. WHY? That’s the real question and issue.

Some people I know have zero knowledge in psychology and understanding. They lack so much empathy, it’s not even funny. Offering help is the first step. Listening, caring, and comforting can go a long way. I remember 2 years ago when I hit complete rock bottom, the low of all lowest… If it wasn’t for my very close small circle, I don’t know where the hell I would be today. I mean shit, my life was doing extremely well and a bomb hit me! Am I supposed to just pretend it didn’t hurt me just to please society? My first step was to keep myself busy. My second step was to talk about it to people who can understand, relate and give good advice. My third step was to let time heal.

The moral of the story is if you’re ever going through a major downside in life, reach out to people close to you. Text me, call me, or message me here, I am never too busy for a friend in need. One thing though, it’s one thing to deal with depression or feeling down due to unforeseen circumstances or something out of your control, it’s a whole different story if you’re playing the victim’s card and never want to do anything about it. Because that my friend, no one on earth can help you. It takes an effort to get out of the hole. Your friends and family can only do so much!
