Operation GQ day 3177

I am finally completely recovered from my back injury! I had an amazing workout at the gym today. A M A Z I N G ! Going 6 days without any running or lifting felt like complete eternity. But… better safe than sorry! I have been putting a lot of focus on the importance of physical activity, nutrition, and proper rest since day 1 of Operation GQ. If there is one thing that I have learned from Anthony Bourdain’s death is that I need to address MENTAL HEALTH.

We live in a society where being vulnerable, miserable or depressed is looked as weakness, like almost something you should be embarrassed or ashamed of. Hence why a lot of people chose to remain or stay quiet of their situation. I mean why should I have to call the Suicide Hotline and tell my problems to a complete stranger if I hit rock bottom? Main reason is because feeling depressed is something you prefer to hide. WHY? That’s the real question and issue.

Some people I know have zero knowledge in psychology and understanding. They lack so much empathy, it’s not even funny. Offering help is the first step. Listening, caring, and comforting can go a long way. I remember 2 years ago when I hit complete rock bottom, the low of all lowest… If it wasn’t for my very close small circle, I don’t know where the hell I would be today. I mean shit, my life was doing extremely well and a bomb hit me! Am I supposed to just pretend it didn’t hurt me just to please society? My first step was to keep myself busy. My second step was to talk about it to people who can understand, relate and give good advice. My third step was to let time heal.

The moral of the story is if you’re ever going through a major downside in life, reach out to people close to you. Text me, call me, or message me here, I am never too busy for a friend in need. One thing though, it’s one thing to deal with depression or feeling down due to unforeseen circumstances or something out of your control, it’s a whole different story if you’re playing the victim’s card and never want to do anything about it. Because that my friend, no one on earth can help you. It takes an effort to get out of the hole. Your friends and family can only do so much!

Who can forget this episode? It wasn’t Bourdain who asked to be on Parts Unknown, but the former POTUS himself. It speaks volume on the level of respect and admiration he received. I shall visit Hanoi, Vietnam soon. Hopefully this November! #TrainingStartsBackTomorrow

Since this morning, I have yet to swallow and accept Bourdain’s death. If there is one lesson to be learned other than get your ass out of your comfort zone and start traveling the world, it’s mental health! Some you may see it coming, some you are shocked, but in his case, completely speechless. He has the life that most people in this world can only dream of. It just shows that we all have our demons to battle, somewhat, somehow.

If you only knew how many times I have viewed his shows to either help plan or pick my next destination. 32 countries in 3 years was the result! I do not know how it feels to have his life, but I got a slight glimpse of it. The glamour, the excitment, the loneliness, the good times, the dark side, but best of all, connecting with people through food.

Anthony Bourdain was able to tell a story about a city you already knew very well, and still made you learn something new. His episode of The Layover in Montreal was a classic. This man was simply a gifted genius and someone I felt that I knew personally. To some people, he was just someone who has a TV show that travels and eat. To me, he was a true inspiration. Tony opened up my eyes to the world. May you rest in Peace Mr. Bourdain! I shall continue to live your lifestyle whether with or without a family, married or single. Life is too short to stay in one place. #nevergiveup

Still feeling like a handicap. Can’t run. Can’t lift. But whatever, I’ll be ok soon! Anyways these 9pm NBA games are way too late. Don’t they know that most people have to wake up early to go to work!? πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ™„

3K Run today. All eyes on the NBA Finals tonight! I hate Lebron (Miami Heat days), but I hate Durant even more (Biggest front runner in the history of humanity!). I say Cavs in 6!

So I left the office brain fried… Go to my work’s gym, got dressed and the plan was to do 8K and a short weight training session after. Instead, I left work and decided to go home because I was that drained. Then while driving… I told myself if I skip 8K today, then I have 5 days to complete 26K with a very busy schedule. So I got off at a random exit, researched a park on Google map and ended up doing only 5K because the tank was on E. Get back in the car and then I tell myself: “Dammit suck it up! Got only 3K to meet today’s goal!” So I drove about 5K, parked my car again and completed what’s left to be done. It was a major pain to do so, but well worth it! #nevergiveup

I am starting to think that the unthinkable is now a reality. The man that I used to HATE when he played with the Miami Heat is now in my opinion the GOAT! πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ€” #wow #restday
